climate all the year and its long history, which extends into the depths of time to millions years, the civilization began with it in the Stone Age before there is a civilization and it had a prestigious position in Central State era, the twelfth family and it had its importance through Greek, Romanian, Coptic and Islamic eras.
This civilizations had left more heritages which still including unique elements in its design and material of construction as Fayoum obelisk with the round head which are not like other obelisks and Fayoum pyramids, which opens its doors to the south which is not like what is known about the pyramids, that is given to Fayoum its unique character and personality ..Uniqueness is not limited to Fayoum heritages only, But Fayoum is the only governorate that meets on its land some lakes, greenery and desert in the unique form which varies its landscapes, activities , civilian , rural , Bedouin and coastal population arts.
It has more types of wildlife which is the only governorate that is known for different elevations in its soil, started from the level of 26 m below the sea level in the south up to 42 m below the sea level in the north, and so Roar water wheels and water mills are revolving strongly through pushing water and it is unprecedented in all of Egypt.. It is the only governorate which includes two lakes; one of them is Qarun Lake with salt water, which is one of the oldest natural heritages in the world and Wadi El Rayan Lake with fresh water, which represents one of the latest great Lake.
Which is also unique design for Traditional rural pigeon houses extends back to the days of the Abbasid State.. All this made for Fayoum its distinctive and unique character, so it gave to it many types of tourisms and it was a reason for attracting tourists and investors from all over the world.
Fayoum governorate is one of the Western desert green natural oasis where located 90 km from Cairo in the south west, and it's one of the North of Upper Egypt governorates which surrounded by desert from all sides except the south-east, where related to Beni Suef governorate and it has been blessed with natural beauty and moderate climate all year, it considered as a Valley, Delta and Lake, the total acreage of the governorate is (6068) km2 ,and the proportion of the population is 575,740 million according to an estimate of 2007 distributors in 6 districts, followed by 61 rural local units and 163 village.
Fayoum is experiencing a great educational prosperity and revival in university education and pre-university, it includes 14 colleges, institutes and university resident for expatriates, the number of schools have reached to 1373 school and168 Adzharia Institutes , Fayoum is the most important tourism areas where it has all attractive tourism elements and it has the natural, rural, coastal and desert environments as well as prehistoric civilizations had appeared in it, such as the Pharaonic,
Greek, Romanian, Coptic and Islamic civilizations, also it has a
lot of tourism areas. Such as Qaroon Lake, Wadi El Rayan ,waterfalls , Stands of Ein Elseleen and a lot of Antiques, such as Abgeeg obelisk and Archeological sites such as Umm Albrigat city, Qaser Qaroon , Madhy ancient city, the virgin lady Church, the hanging mosque and the roar waterwheels as well as natural reserves.
Origin label Fayoum:
Fayoum was in the ancient eras the district 21 of the administrative regions of the Upper Egypt, it was called Mc rt-pht that means the lowest tree, it was and the district 20 as one district before Independent each of others.
Fayoum has been named as (Mir ware) means a great sea when the water was flooding all Fayoum valley, then called Shedit (sdt sdt) that means derived land of the lake based on the land reclamation by drawn it from the lake water, and in the Greco-Roman was named (Crocoddilipolis) because of the existence of the crocodile in the region, because of the existence of the crocodiles in the region, as it was worshiped in the name of Sobek God (Sobek in the Hieroglyphic language means Crocodile) ,it was also called (Brsobek) as a house for Sobek god and the name was changed to (Arsenauy) in honor of the sister's Ptolemy II wife (Philadelphus) and mentioned in the texts Q 10 and Q10 which is out Damutiky( P3-ym) as ( B I m) that meaning by Arabic yam (means sea) or lake which mutated into Fayoum, and added to it Arabic definite article after the Arab conquest in addition to the Egyptian definite article so it became El Fayoum.

Waterwheels are the most important features of Fayoum governorate, where it is the only governorate in Egypt, which having this type of waterwheels, because of its role for spreading greenery and agriculture in Fayoum entire ,so it has been developed as a logo of Fayoum.
The history of the lake associated with Fayoum history since its inception, also its area was covering the entire territory, which is one of the oldest natural heritages in the world.

The design of Fayoum's flag logo is consists of waterwheels and eagle, and Egypt's flag as Fayoum is considering one of Egypt's territories, it is proud of belonging to the motherland.
